Gerard Butler
Since childhood, Butler loved movies - constantly went to the movie theater with his mother. Soon he became interested in the stage - he began to play in the Scottish Youth Theater, and then got a role in the Royal Theater of Glasgow. At the same time, Gerard, unlike many actors, studied well, which is very pleased with his mother, who insisted that the son received a good profession.
After school Butler at the request of his mother went to college, the law school, which graduated c brilliant results. But soon after graduation, he went to Los Angeles - and not at all in order to conduct legal practice.
True, a year and a half in the city of angels did not bring anything Gerard - if you do not count the position of an extra in "Bodyguard". Soon he learned that his father in Canada dying of cancer. Butler immediately went there. And having buried his father, came back to Scotland.
He decided to work by profession - returned to the legal field. At first he was doing well, but then he got bored and became depressed. They say that at that period comes to problems with alcohol. After some time Gerard was fired from work - but by that time he decided that he would not give up the desire to become an actor and went to London.
There he was interrupted by casual earnings, until he was taken to the theater Mermaid. At first he was only a casting assistant, but then arranged an audition and got his first role. Later, Gerard literally shone in the production of "On the Needle" on the famous novel by Irvine Welsh.
By 1997 Butler was already quite a successful theatrical actor and prepared for his film debut - in the rental started his first tape "Her Majesty Mrs. Brown" with Judi Dench. In the same year, the young actor appeared in another series of "Bond" "Tomorrow Never Dies," and a year later - in the tape "The Mummy: Prince of Egypt".
In 1998, on British television launched a series of "How to become a rock star: a guide for young people," where Butler played one of the central roles. True, the project lasted only one season, and then closed.
In 1999, Gerard received his first major role in the movie - in the film "One More Kiss". Soon he had the opportunity to play Yasha in the movie "The Cherry Orchard" by Chekhov.
Butler once again tried his hand at TV - this time, the series in which he starred ("Lucy Sullivan gets married"), lasted two seasons.
In 2000, Gerard starred in a thriller - and, quite successfully. He played a major role in the movie "Dracula 2000. And a year later he got the role of Attila in the TV movie "Attila the Conqueror".

In 2005, Butler was invited to star in the scandalous project "Trailer for the remake of Caligula." Italian director Francesco Vezzoli made a trailer for the nonexistent epic movie Tinto Brass about the legendary and sinister emperor Caligula. The five-minute clip is really impressive.
In the same year in the rental started fantasy action movie "Beowulf and Grendel," where Gerard got the role of Beowulf. In parallel with directly acting, Butler has recently produced movies - his company Evil Twins promoted the tape "Law Abiding Citizen.
