Gennady Trukhanov

Gennady Leonidovich Trukhanov is the mayor of Odessa, co-chairman of the party "Trust in Deeds".

Brief biography

Gennady Trukhanov was born in Odessa, January 17, 1965.

He has no higher education, studied at the Odessa Artillery and Command School, subsequently served in the military service from 1986 to 1992, having served from lieutenant to captain.

In 1993, Gennady Trukhanov managed the private security firm "Captain".

From 2004 to 2007 he worked at one of the posts in the apparatus of the Ukrainian Parliament.

Gennady Trukhanov began his full-fledged career as a politician in 2005, when he was elected as one of the deputies of the Odessa City Council.

He was re-elected to the City Council in 2006 and 2010. Last time Gennadiy Trukhanov headed the Odessa faction of the Party of Regions.

In 2012, Hennadiy Trukhanov became a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, where he passed on the lists of the Party of Regions, winning in the one hundred thirty-sixth district.

In 2014, after the Revolution of Dignity, Hennadiy Trukhanov left the collapsing Party of Regions and until the extraordinary parliamentary elections was a member of the parliamentary group "Economic Development".

In the extraordinary elections of Odessa mayor in 2014, Gennadiy Trukhanov won with almost half of the total number of votes. He was re-elected mayor in 2015 with approximately the same result. After the Revolution of Dignity, Trukhanov's activities as mayor have been actively criticized by social activists, media and politicians.

In 2017, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) launched an investigation into Gennady Trukhanov for financial fraud and malicious abuse.

In 2019th year, Gennady Trukhanov became co-chairman of the party "Trust the Affairs", together with Gennady Kernes. Opponents of the politician have already named the new political force: "Party of the two Gens".

Gennady Trukhanov's party "Trust Do" took part in the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which were held on July 21, 2019.
