Alexander Vladimirovich Tkachenko is a Ukrainian journalist and producer, CEO of 1+1 Media.

Brief biography

Alexander Tkachenko was born on January 22, 1966 in Kyiv.

Тkachenko got his higher education in the National Taras Shevchenko University where he studied at the faculty of journalism and graduated in 1990.

Oleksandr Tkachenko was the head of "Nova Mova" studio from 1994 to 1999. The latter was engaged in the production of television content for the leading Ukrainian TV channels at that time - UT-1 andInter.

In 1996 he started collaboration with "Studio 1+1". In a year after the beginning of his cooperation Alexander Tkachenko made a debut on "1+1" with a news project "Television News Service" (aka "TSN") and became a Deputy General Producer of "Studio 1+1".

At the end of 1997 Alexander Tkachenko left "1+1" to take over the chair of "Novyi Kanal" in 1999 with which he worked till his departure in 2005.

In 2004 it was Oleksandr Tkachenko who led the famous debates between presidential candidates Viktor Yanukovych and Viktor Yushchenko.

After leaving "Noviy Kanal", Alexander Tkachenko became the chairman of the board and one of the shareholders of the Odessa film studio.

Moreover, in 2008, Alexander Tkachenko worked for three months with Russian TV channel REN-TV, where he held position of deputy general director.

Alexander Tkachenko is a General Director of 1+1 Media Group since August, 2008.

Alexander Tkachenko took part in the extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which took place in July 2019. Tkachenko ran for deputy of Ukraine from the party "Servant of People", in the pre-election list of which he held the ninth position.

In the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation Alexander Tkachenko headed the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.

Then the Verkhovna Rada at a meeting on June 4, 2020, approved Tkachenko for the post of Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

Resignation from the Cabinet of Ministers

On November 11, 2021, it became known that Tkachenko wrote a letter of resignation from the post of Minister. He also named the reason for his resignation.

Personal life

The journalist is married. Alexander Tkachenko's wife is Anna Barannik. Alexander Tkachenko has two children.
