The best in the world! Maguchikh wins the Diamond League for the third time in a row
Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh confidently won the final stage of the Diamond League held in Brussels. Our compatriot was the first in the high jump section, where she took the gold medal of the entire tournament season.
In the Belgian capital, Yaroslava achieved a result of 1.97 meters. This is the third consecutive victory in the overall League standings for the 22-year-old representative of Dnipro.
Maguchikh took the first four heights on her first attempt. The Ukrainian approached the bar at 2.01 meters together with Australian Nicola Olislagers. Here the competitors faced serious difficulties. All approaches to the apparatus were unsuccessful for the athletes.
This meant that Maguchikh became the first, thanks to the fact that Olislagers managed to jump 1.97 meters only on her second attempt.
The Ukrainian scored 40 points in the overall standings, winning all five stages of the League in which she participated. Yaroslava is eight points ahead of Olislagers. Another Ukrainian player, Iryna Gerashchenko, became the third in the season. The Kyiv-based player recorded 31 points.
