The husband of Olympic champion Maria Lasitskene, journalist Vladas Lasitskas, called the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions a disgrace. He accused the leaders of the International Federation of Athletics (World Athletics) of forcing his wife to end her international career.

Lasitskas wrote about this on his Twitter page. The journalist posted a video of the high jumper in which she tearfully announced her decision.

"Hello, Sebastian Coe (Chairman of World Athletics - ed.) and Dobromir Karamarinov (Chairman of the European Athletics Association - ed.). You think that athletics is your property. But you are wrong. It is the athlete's business. And you have forgotten about it. Shame on you, leaders," said the husband of Lasitskene, who was considered the main rival of Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

In the comments, he was reminded of the tears of Ukrainians because of the grief that Russia brought to Ukraine. In addition, the journalist was reminded that Maria represents the Russian army, which invaded another country.

Earlier, Lasitskene complained that due to sanctions against Russia, she was forced to wear equipment with holes in it. In addition, the Russian woman broke her silence about the war in Ukraine only in early August. She called it her mistake.

In response, Mahuchikh stated that she had stopped communicating with representatives of the aggressor country and said that she no longer considered Lasitskene her idol. At the Tokyo Olympics, the Ukrainian woman took a picture with Maria. This photo caused a strong reaction in society.
