10 popular tourist destinations in Europe locals say are "the worst cities to live in"

A large-scale study was conducted by the European Commission. It asked residents from across the continent to rate their city based on important factors such as housing, green space, and healthcare. While almost nine out of ten Europeans were satisfied with their lives, some regions were frustrated.

The least happy Europeans were in one of the most popular tourist destination. This was reported by Express.

10. Podgorica, Montenegro

Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, ranks 10th. Despite the fact that the charming coastline has seen a lot of tourists in recent years, the capital is not in such demand. Less than half of Podgorica's residents believe that the city is a good place for LGBT+ people to live, while 22% of people said they are feeling lonely.

9. Miskolc, Hungary

Miskolc is an industrial city in northeastern Hungary and the country's fourth largest metropolis. Less than half of Miskolc residents said they feel safe walking alone at night, while less than a quarter of people think it's easy to find a good job. Residents were also unimpressed with the healthcare system.

Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, has some of the least satisfied residents. Only 13% of people believe that their quality of life has improved over the past five years. Less than 40% of residents believe that people in their city can be trusted.

Rome ranks seventh in the ranking despite being one of the leading vacation destinations in Europe. Only three percent of people felt that their quality of life had improved over the past five years in the Italian capital. Less than half of the residents consider Rome a good place for the elderly to live.

Only 38% of residents of the Serbian capital believe that they can trust their neighbors. About 60% of people were satisfied with their jobs, while less than half of the locals were positive about public transportation.

5. Naples, Italy

Naples has become the second Italian city to make the list for low life satisfaction. Despite the fact that the city is popular with tourists, only 66% of residents said they were happy to live there. Only 58% of people believe it is a good place for young families to live, while less than half of residents felt safe walking at night.

Albania's capital was one of the worst places to live in Europe, with only 66% of people saying they were happy to live there. Less than 30% of people thought Tirana was a good place for LGBT+ people to live, while less than 40% of respondents thought the city had enough green space.

Only 62% of people reported being satisfied with life in Palermo, and only four percent thought that it was possible to get a good job in the city. People also think the city is too noisy, while only six percent think it is clean. Despite this, the coastal city is extremely popular among tourists.
