In the fall, the owners have a lot of gardening work to do, which takes a lot of time and effort. But you can make your life easier without picking all the herbs and vegetables from the garden because they can withstand sharp temperature fluctuations.

OBOZ.UA has compiled a list of such plants. The owners can leave some crops in the garden for the winter without remorse because it will only have a positive effect on them.

These plants include various herbs, vegetable perennials and frost-resistant root crops.

Herbs

Parsley, chard, beetroot, and sorrel will tolerate the cold season well and, under favorable conditions, will delight you with a new harvest.

Spicy herbs

Mint, lemon balm, oregano, catnip, and tarragon: you don't have to worry about these herbs either as they are adapted to temperature changes.

Root vegetables

Jerusalem artichoke, parsnip, daikon (sweet Japanese radish), horseradish, and celery. These root vegetables will not only survive the winter well but also improve their flavor.

Onions

Onion varieties such as bunching or dwarf Alp onions (ornamental perennials), and chives (perennial herb) are not only resistant to temperature fluctuations but will also decorate your garden with their flowering in the fall.

Although such crops can withstand the conditions of the cold season, you still need to provide shelter for the plants. You can cover them with various covering materials or mulch them.
