The main and even historic difference: the transition from Lightning to USB-C. The transition is voluntary and compulsory, as it's a reaction to European Union rules that require all phones sold after December 28, 2024, to be equipped with a USB-C charging port.

Obviously, since the iPhone 15 is scheduled to be sold next year and in 2025, it doesn't make sense to release it now with native Lightning. Especially since iPads, MacBooks, and third-party accessories for Apple are also moving to USB-C.

As for the port itself, there is some disturbing news. It is reported that possibly the ports will be different, depending on the smartphone model. Thus, the "cheaper" iPhone 15 will have a port supporting USB 2.0, which is the same speed as Lightning. At the same time, iPhone 15 Pro models will have a faster USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt. Nothing personal, just business....

Also, if leaks on the web are to be believed, the camera modules in the iPhone 15 Pro could become even larger than those in the iPhone 14 Pro. There's speculation that the lenses themselves will also change months down the line. But it's unlikely that anyone will notice the difference.

Sources also claim that Dynamic Island - an interactive notch replacement - will now be available in all new iPhone models, not just the Pro and Max versions as it was with the iPhone 14.

Another possible update is the buttons. It is reported that the side physical keys in the iPhone 15 will be replaced by tactile touch sensors. Similar in its time was the "tactile" button "Home" in the iPhone SE. It is not very clear how it will work with cases... At the same time, on the renders that have hit the network there are buttons, but they almost do not protrude beyond the frames.

By the way, regarding the side frames. As expected, right angles will be a thing of the past. But not quite. Reportedly, the front side of the frame will still have a right angle, while the back side will get a more rounded shape. Probably to make the phone more comfortable to hold in your hands.

Perhaps it will be a camera with a wide-angle lens or a better zoom, or a camera with a shallower depth of field for portrait photos with blurred backgrounds.

There is a possibility that the iPhone 15 camera will have a 48-megapixel main sensor. Previously, it was only available to iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max owners. The regular iPhone 14 had a 12-megapixel main sensor.

There are also rumors that the iPhone 15 camera will use a new CMOS image sensor from Sony. It will be able to capture more light and reduce the likelihood of over- or underexposed images, such as when the subject is backlit.

RAM may also be shared. "Cheap" versions will get 6GB of RAM, while the Pro will get 8GB of RAM. More RAM will help the iPhone 15 Pro handle large ProRAW photos and ProRES video files better and faster.

There is also a possibility that to justify the high price, the new iPhone 15 Pro will have more memory. The base model will have 256GB, while 512GB, 1TB and even 2TB models will also be available.

And to the "better" news. If rumors are to be believed, all iPhone models will become more expensive in 2023 due to increased production costs. The iPhone 15 will become more expensive by 12%, and the 15 Pro version will become 20% more expensive at once. This will be the first increase for the US since 2017. Analysts believe that the iPhone 15 Pro could cost from $1,099 compared to the iPhone 14 Pro's starting price of $999. In that case, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could cost from $1,199.

As for the release date, it is impossible to accurately name it. As a rule, new models go on sale a week after the presentation. According to rumors, this year we will have to wait a little longer. The tentative start of sales is scheduled for September 22 in the United States.
