Harvesting tomatoes

Few people know that you need to take care of the next season's tomato harvest as early as the fall. To get high-quality fruiting and enjoy large, juicy vegetables, you should prepare the garden in advance.

If you follow simple rules, tomatoes will start growing in the spring. Read the OBOZ.UA article on what to do in the garden in November to prepare a bed for tomatoes.

According to experienced gardeners, late autumn is the perfect time to take care of the beds where tomatoes will grow next season. You should take care of both the open ground and the greenhouse.

It is important to follow crop rotation rules. Tomatoes are best planted in beds where garlic or onions grew last year. In the fall, the soil must be fertilized with organic fertilizers. You can add humus or overripe compost at the rate of one bucket per square meter.

The next step is to saturate the soil with calcium and phosphorus. Fertilize the bed with superphosphate or dolomite flour, and then dig it up thoroughly. For better efficiency, it is recommended to cover the beds with leaves, straw or non-woven material.

There is no need to add organic matter to greenhouse soil - let the soil remain loose and saturated. But when digging, you can add a little dolomite flour and superphosphate.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA published the sowing calendar for November-2023 and told what you need to do in the garden before the frost.
