
Oleh Lyashko
Oleh Valeryevich Lyashko is a Ukrainian politician, leader of the Radical Party.
Brief biography
Oleg Lyashko was born on December 3, 1972, in Chernihiv.
He received his higher education at the Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after G. S. Skovoroda. He graduated in 1998 (he received his second higher education in 2013, at the Shevchenko National Pedagogical University).
He started working in a collective farm, but soon went into journalism.
In 1990, he started working in the newspaper "Young Guard", where in two years he rose from correspondent to the head of the department.
From 1992 to 1995 Oleg Lyashko held the position of editor in the newspaper "Commercial News" under the Ministry of Economic Communications of Ukraine.
In 1995, Oleh Lyashko left for a year to work at Pravda Ukraina, where he wrote for the Politics supplement.
In August 1996, Lyashko took the post of editor-in-chief of the newspaper Politika. He headed the publication for three years, until 1999, when Politika was closed down by a court decision with the wording "disclosure of state secrets".
From 2000 to 2006, Oleh Lyashko headed the newspaper Svoboda.
Oleh Lyashko started his political career together with the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc - he twice (2006 and 2007) became a People's Deputy of Ukraine, passing to the Rada on the lists of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc.
In 2011,Oleh Lyashko was elected as the head of the Ukrainian Radical Democratic Party, as a result of which it changed its name toOleh Lyashko's RadicalParty. In the 2012 elections, Lyashko was elected to the Rada from the RPL.
He actively supported the Revolution of Dignity and is remembered by activists and journalists for bringing baseball bats and equipment to the protesters' barricades.
In 2014, in the early presidential election, Oleh Lyashko came third in the polls.
In 2019th year also participated in the presidential election, but dropped out in the first round.
