Full name: Martin Marcantonio Luciano Scorsese.

He was born on November 17, 1942 in Queens, New York, USA.

Famous American film director, film producer and screenwriter. Winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival (1976), Golden Globe awards for directing (2002, 2006) and Academy Award for Best Director (2006). He is an Officer of the Legion of Honor (since January 5, 2005, Chevalier since 1998).

Scorsese's talent as a director was first fully revealed in 1976 with Taxi Driver. The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival (1976) and two BAFTA awards. In all, the film won 18 awards, was nominated for four Oscars and nine other awards.
