Vyacheslav Butusov
Vyacheslav Gennadyevich Butusov was born on October 15, 1961 in Bugach settlement, Krasnoyarsk region. Because of his father's profession, the family often moved from place to place, so until the 9th grade Vyacheslav studied and lived in various Siberian cities. In the 9th grade he moved to Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), where he soon entered the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute. In his first year Butusov meets Dmitry Umetsky. Both, seriously passionate about music, repeatedly gathered and played together. This, closer to graduation, leads to the recording of his first, not very successful album "Moving". In the same year Butusov meets Ilya Kormiltsev. With him he records his first adult album "Invisible" in 1985. In the following 1986 their tandem recorded the record "Separation", which began the popularity of "Nautilus Pompilius". The group existed for about 10 more years.
In 1997 he started his solo career. He recorded the album "Illegitimate" (1997) together with Yuri Kasparyan (ex-Kino) and the solo album "Ovals" (1998). He played a cameo role in Alexey Balabanov's movie "Brat", for which he also wrote the soundtrack, and the movie "Brat 2" included the song "Gibraltar-Labrador", recorded for Boris Grebenshchikov's project "Terrarium" on poems by George Gunitsky.
In 2001, Butusov and Deadushki released a joint album "Elisobarra-torr", which mixed electronic music and Russian rock. In the same year 2001 Butusov together with musicians of the band "Kino", which had broken up in the early 1990s after the death of Tsoi, recorded the album "Zvezdny Padl", consisting of songs by Evgeny Golovin, and assembled the supergroup "Yu-Peter", which, apart from Butusov himself, included Yuri Kasparyan, Oleg Sakmarov (ex-Aquarium) and Evgeny Kulakov (ex-Caught Ants). In this line-up the band recorded the single "Strike Love" (2001) and the full album "Name of the Rivers" (2003). At the same time Sakmarov leaves the band.
In 2004, Yu-Peter records the album "Biography". Two hits from this album are still actively present on the radio airwaves: "The Song of Going Home" and "Girl on the Town".
In 2005 Butusov receives the Muz-Tv-2005 award for his contribution to the development of Russian rock music. In the same year the movie "Zhmurki" was released, in the creation of music to which Butusov participated.
In 2007 Butusov became a writer. On sale appears his book "Virgostan", including two stories and a dictionary of worldly states. A few months later comes out another book "Antidepressant. Co-Search." It is a product of co-creation of Vyacheslav Butusov and Nikolai Yakimchuk.
In 2008 Butusov records an album of songs by young artists as a guest vocalist. The album is called "Model for Assembly".
On June 17, 2008 a new album by Vyacheslav Butusov and the band Yu-Peter "Mantis" is released.
