Olga Bogomolets

Bogomolets Olga Vladimirovna - dermatologist, Ukrainian politician, People's Deputy of the VIII convocation, head of the VRU Committee on Health Care, ex-advisor to the President of Ukraine on humanitarian issues. Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences. Presidential candidate in the elections in 2019.

Born on March 22, 1966 in Kiev, in the family of hereditary medics.

Education:

In 1989, she graduated with honors from the Kiev Medical Institute named after. A. A. Bogomolets, specializing in "Medicine".

From 1989 to 1991 she underwent clinical residency at the Ukrainian State Institute for Advanced Medical Education.

In 1993-1994 she studied in the USA at the Pennsylvania Medical University (Philadelphia, USA) (took a course in environmental dermatology) and Bernard Ackerman Institute of Dermatopathology.

In 2001, she graduated from the National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Dragomanov. M. P. Dragomanov National Pedagogical University. She received a specialty of psychologist.

In 2003, she received a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree at the National Medical University, specializing in Skin and Venereal Diseases.

Career:

Prior to her political career, she worked as a practicing physician. From 2004 to 2005 she was a personal physician of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.

From 2005 to 2008 she was a deputy of Kyiv City Council, she was elected on the Our Ukraine list, in 2006 she joined the faction "Capital Reforms". She headed the Standing Commission on Health Care and Social Protection of the Kyiv City Council.

Bohomolets organized and led the public movement of doctors "Maidan Emergency Medical Aid" during the Revolution of Dignity.

In the 2014 presidential election, she came in eighth place with 1.91%.

In September 2014 , she was appointed freelance advisor to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on humanitarian issues.

In October, she became an MP on the BPP list. She headed the parliamentary committee on health care.

In December 2018, Bogomolets announced her participation in the presidential election in 2019. Later that month, Poroshenko fired her from her position as his freelance adviser.

Personal life: married to Igor Kirilyuk, a lawyer. Children: a son and three daughters.

Key talking points:

- The medical community has the right to strike because the medical profession is discriminated against and doctors are paid low salaries.

- It is impossible to change the situation in the medical sphere without developing the economy and fighting corruption. Today people with power are disconnected from what is happening on the ground.

- I want to become for the Ukrainian people a president who guarantees them justice. We must have a guarantor not only of the constitution, but also a guarantor of justice. A president who will start, first of all, with himself. He will not violate the Constitution, he will live the life of ordinary people.

- Increase the life expectancy of citizens and reduce mortality. And I can really achieve this as soon as the authorities stop putting sticks in the wheels.
