KAZKA
Musical group playing in the style of experimental pop with elements of electro-folk
KAZKA is a Ukrainian folk band.
History
The collective was created in 2017. The original line-up - Alexandra Zaritskaya, Dmitry Mazuryak and Nikita Budash - has never changed as of 2019.
KAZKA debuted in March 2017, presenting its first single "Svyata" to the public. Quite unexpectedly for everyone, including the band itself, "Svyata" broke into the tops of many Ukrainian radio stations, bringing KAZKA the first fruits of popularity.
The same year KAZKA successfully won the casting of the TV show "X-Factor" on the channel "STB" and joined the group of coach Andrey Danilko. Unfortunately, the group lost in the fifth broadcast of the season. However, KAZKA rehabilitated immediately after leaving "X-Factor" by releasing its second song "Diva", which on the first day took first place in the iTunes service charts. Also in 2017, the collective KAZKA won such titles as "Debut of the Year" and "Breakthrough of the Year" in Ukraine.
In 2018, KAZKA released its first album, which the band called "KARMA". Shortly after the release of the album, KAZKA broke into the top ten performers according to the Shazam service.
KAZKA twice participated in the national selection of Ukraine for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2018, the group was only able to take sixth place, but in 2019, it beat out third place. After the scandalous refusal of MARUV to participate in Eurovision, associated with an openly pro-Russian position of the winner of the National Selection, the group KAZKA was offered to take her place, but the team made a joint decision to refuse to participate inEurovision.
KAZKA - "Crying"
The song "Crying" turned out to be a resounding success for KAZKA, though no one from the group hoped for such a result. "Crying" kept trending in the Ukrainian YouTube segment for three months. As of 2019, "Plakala" is the leader among all Ukrainian-language songs on YouTube in terms of the number of views, which the song has already accumulated two hundred million.
However, the song became famous not only in Ukraine, but rapidly popularized abroad. Starting from the first places in the charts of Ukraine and Russia, "Crying" took the second place in iTunes in Moldova, the third in Kazakhstan and the eighteenth place in the top of iTunes in Bulgaria. In the global top of the Shazam Music Awards, "Crying" broke through to the twelfth place. And in November 2018, "Plakala" suddenly became the first in the Russian hit parade of theMuz TV channel.
