Kyrylo Shevchenko
Kyrylo Shevchenko is a Ukrainian banker, head of the National Bank of Ukraine (2020-2022).
Brief biographyShevchenko was born on October 25, 1972 in the city of Tula.
He began his career at the Ilyich mine in Lugansk region, where he worked as a repairman from September 1987 to August 1989.
In 1994, Mr. Shevchenko graduated from Kharkov State University of Economics with a degree in economics.
Later he worked exclusively as an economist and in the banking sector.
In 1994, he worked as Acting Head of the Credit Resource Attraction Sector at Ukrainian Credit Bank (now A-Bank);
Then he was a leading economist of the credit resources sector of the credit department of Aval Bank;
From October 1995 to December 2006, he held several positions in the Finance and Credit Bank, finishing his career as First Deputy Head of the Bank's Management Board;
From December 2006 to May 2009, he headed the State Mortgage Institution;
Further, from May to September 2009, he was an advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko;
Subsequently, he became First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSB Ukrgasbank. He held the position from September 2009 to April 2010;
From May 2012 to August 2014, he was an advisor to the Head of the Management Board of OJSC "Oschadbank"
Since October 2014, he became First Deputy Head of the Board, subsequently became Acting Head of the Board of JSB "Ukrgasbank", and since May 2015 - headed the bank.
Head of the NBUOn July 16, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada supported Shevchenko's appointment as the head of the National Bank of Ukraine by 332 votes.
On October 2, 2022 Shevchenko announced that he was leaving the post. According to him, the decision was made because of the state of health.
FamilyShevchenko is married and is raising a daughter.
