YevhenNishchuk is the former Minister of Culture of Ukraine.

Brief biography

Yevhen Nishchuk was born in Ivano-Frankivsk, December 29, 1972.

He received his higher education at the Karpenko-Karoly KTI, from which he graduated in 1995.

Since 2015, he has been an actor at the Ivan Frank National Drama Theater.

He served as Minister of Culture in the Cabinet of Arseniy Yatsenyuk and later in the government of Volodymyr Groysman.

He represented Ukraine at the Days of Culture of Ukraine in a number of countries, including Georgia, Germany and Poland.

Yevgeniy Nishchuk on the Maidan

In 2004, Yevhen Nishchuk acted as a presenter and moderator of the Orange Revolution stage.

Later, shortly after the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity, he took the same public position on the new Maidan. According to Nishchuk, he was invited there by Yuriy Lutsenko. Characteristically, in the interval between the two revolutions, Yevhen Nishchuk did not take part in any rally.

After the Revolution of Dignity, he was appointed Minister of Culture in the newly formed government of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and worked in this position until December 2014. In 2016, he returned to this position.

Personal life

Yevhen Nishchuk was married. His wife - Oksana Batko-Nishchuk, Honored Artist of Ukraine, died on October 7, 2016 and was buried at Baikiv Cemetery in Kiev.

Nishchuk is raising a son - Oleksa.
