Brief biography of Serhiy Knyazev
Sergei Knyazev was born in Russia, in the village of Mstyora, October 18, 1971. However, even at a pre-school age, the family of Sergei Knyazev moved to Ukraine and settled in Bila Tserkva in the Kiev region.
Sergey Knyazev received his higher education at the Kiev National Academy of Internal Affairs, where he completed both master's and adjunct studies.
Sergiy Knyazev started his career in the law enforcement system back in 1992, as an ordinary policeman in Bila Tserkva.
In 2008, having climbed the career ladder from the very bottom, Knyazev already worked as the head of the criminal investigation department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv region.
After the beginning of the war in Donbass, in 2014, Sergey Knyazev temporarily served as deputy chief of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in Donetsk region, but in 2015 he became head of the police in Transcarpathia.
In 2016, Knyazev headed the National Police of Rivne region. In the same year, he was promoted to the rank of general and headed the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
In 2017-th year Sergey Knyazev was appointed to the post of head of the National police of Ukraine.
In 2019, he resigned from this high post at his own request.
Serhiy Knyazev's ex-wife
In 2019, a loud scandal broke out around the person of Sergey Knyazev. According to a number of media outlets, Knyazev's ex-wife was detained at customs in Poland with undeclared 650 thousand euros.
Knyazev himself denied this detention, saying that he was the object of some kind of information attack.
