Nargiz Zakirova
Nargiz Pulativna Zakirova is an Uzbek and American singer.
Brief biography
Nargiz was born on October 6, 1971 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
For the first time performed on stage at the age of four, at the age of 15 appeared at the I All-Union TV contest of young performers of Soviet pop songs "Jurmala-86", where she won the prize of audience sympathy.
She studied at the variety department of the Republican Circus School.
In 1995 together with her parents and daughter she emigrated to the USA.
She lived in New York, where she first worked in a store, video salon, tattoo parlor, and also performed in restaurants.
In 2001 she recorded the ethno-album "Golden Cage". After that she collaborated with different bands and also performed solo.
In 2013 she came to Russia, where she became a participant of the show "The Voice". She got to the finals of the show, taking second place.
Subsequently, she began working in Russia. From 2014 to 2019, she collaborated with producer and composer Maxim Fadeev.
In 2014, at the international music festival "White Nights of St. Petersburg" was the representative of Russia and won the Grand Prix of the competition.
In October 2016, the release of the singer's first album called "Noise of the heart" took place.
Subsequently, the singer had a conflict with Fadeev, which led to the termination of the contract. The producer also banned her from performing all the songs recorded during the period of cooperation.
The annexation of Crimea and the war in Ukraine
In 2017, Nargiz was banned from entering Ukraine for illegally entering occupied Crimea. She was also entered into the purgatory of the website "Peacemaker".
Over time, the singer began to admit that she did not feel comfortable in Russia, and also criticized the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in 2022. Thus, in April 2022, in particular, she wrote in her Telegram channel "Hands off Ukraine!"
In this regard, on May 25, 2022, Nargiz was detained at Moscow's Domodedovo airport and deported to Uzbekistan. According to her lawyer, she was banned from visiting the Russian Federation until 2072.
Nargiz is a citizen of the United States.
