Irina Gerashchenko

Irina Vladimirovna Gerashchenko is a People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation.

Brief biography

Irina Gerashchenko was born in Cherkassy, May 15, 1971.

Higher education Irina Gerashchenko received at the journalism department of Taras Shevchenko KNU, and later - in the diplomatic academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and in absentia - at the law department of Taras Shevchenko KNU.

After graduating from the university, Iryna Herashchenko worked in the field of journalism until 2006. Having started as an editor of children's programs on UT "Kyiv", she reached the position of the president of one of the largest Ukrainian news agencies "UNIAN".

Irina Gerashchenko started her political career in 2003 as press secretary to Viktor Yushchenko. She held this position until 2006.

In 2007, Iryna Gerashchenko was elected a People's Deputy of Ukraine. In the Verkhovna Rada Gerashchenko joined the faction NUNS.

In 2012, Gerashchenko was successfully re-elected to the Ukrainian parliament, this time from Vitaliy Klitschk ' s UDAR party.

After the end of the Revolution of Dignity, Iryna Gerashchenko was appointed presidential commissioner for the peaceful settlement of the war in Donbas. Iryna Gerashchenko acted as one of Ukraine's representatives at the negotiations in Minsk, and was also actively engaged in the issue of search, identification and exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the terrorist organizations "DNR" and "LNR".

In the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada in 2014, Irina Gerashchenko was elected as a people's deputy of Ukraine from the BPP, and in 2016 took the chair of the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.

Iryna Gerashchenko resigned from the post of Presidential Commissioner in 2019, shortly after the presidential election in Ukraine.

Irina Gerashchenko took part in the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which were held in July 2019. In the people's deputies of Ukraine Gerashchenko ran from the party "European Solidarity", in the pre-election list of which she was in the first ten.
