Igor Kolomoisky

Igor Valeryevich Kolomoisky is a Ukrainian businessman and billionaire.

Brief biography

Igor Kolomoisky was born in Dnipro, February 13, 1963.

He graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute.

In business Igor Kolomoisky came in the eighties, acting as one of the founders of the cooperative "Sentosa", which was engaged in the resale of office equipment.

In 1992, together with a number of business partners, he founded the closed joint-stock company "Privatbank".

Subsequently, on the basis of the bank, was created financial and industrial group "Privat".

As a result, Igor Kolomoisky and thePrivat Group own a number of different enterprises and companies in Ukraine - from NDK "Ukrnafta" and a number of ferroalloy plants, to the media holding " 1+1 Media", which includes the TV channel "1+1", IA "UNIAN", TV channel "TET", etc.

In 2014, Igor Kolomoisky was appointed head of Dnipropetrovsk region. He created the National Defense Regiment of Dnipropetrovsk region, helped numerous volunteer battalions. He became widely known for his promise to pay ten thousand dollars for each captured terrorist from "L/DNR".

In 2015, because of the conflict around the enterprise "Ukrtransnafta", Igor Kolomoisky left the post of governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region.

As of 2019, "Privatbank" founded by Igor Kolomoisky is the largest bank in Ukraine.

"Privatbank" was one of the first financial institutions that voluntarily stopped its work in Crimea annexed by the Russian Federation.

US sanctions against Kolomoisky

On March 5, 2021, it became known that the United States imposed sanctions against Kol omoisky on corruption charges.

A statement on behalf of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Kolomoisky, as head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration of Ukraine from 2014 to 2015, was involved in corrupt acts that undermined the rule of law and the confidence of the Ukrainian public in democratic institutions.

In addition to the businessman, the sanctions included:

• wife Irina Kolomoisky;

• daughter Angelika Kolomoisky;

• son Israel Tsvi Kolomoisky.

The businessman and members of his family will not be able to visit the United States.
