Short biography

Igor Hrynkevych is a Ukrainian businessman. According to the media, he is suspected of involvement in corruption in the supplies of the Ministry of Defense.

Corruption scandal

Hrynkevych was allegedly detained in late December 2023, when he tried to pay 500 thousand dollars to one of the heads of the Main Investigation Department of the GBI. Law enforcers do not officially name the detainee, but sources claim that it is Igor Hrynkevich. Subsequently, the detainee was elected a measure of restraint - detention in custody with the alternative of payment of bail in the amount of almost 430 million hryvnias.

Hrynkevich tried to pay a bribe in order to return the property seized from the companies controlled by the businessman during the investigation of law enforcers.

This is about the investigation, according to which the businessman's companies conducted procurement of 23 tenders to supply the Ministry of Defense with clothing and underwear for the military in the amount of more than 1.5 billion hryvnias.

In particular, the tailoring of clothes was to be carried out by the companies controlled by the businessman, which had previously been engaged only in construction. As a result, the state budget was damaged by UAH 1.2 billion.

It is known that six contracts the businessman's structures did not fulfill in full, at least seven more contracts were delivered to the Ministry of Defense in small quantities, although payment was received for full fulfillment of obligations. Another eight contracts were executed months late.

The investigation revealed that goods were purchased from other countries and then sold to the MoD at inflated prices.

After the property of Hrynkevich's company was seized, the businessman tried to hush up the case with the help of a bribe.

On December 30, he was reported on suspicion under part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (offering, promising or giving an illegal benefit to an official).

Hrynkevych's family

According to the media, Hrynkevych's son Roman may also be involved in corrupt practices.

He is the director and founder of Construction Alliance Montazhproekt LLC. This company planned to build the Citizens' Security Center in Lviv Region under a tender for 33 million hryvnias. The media found out that the cost of a number of construction materials was one and a half times higher than the market prices.

Earlier, Roman Hrynkevich's company also performed works ordered by the Department of Regional Development of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, having won a tender for almost UAH 115 million for "reconstruction with completion of 12 classrooms and reconstruction of the existing block of the school in the village of Chernitsa, Stryi district, Lviv region".

Hrynkevych's daughter Olga Shved in 2023 also got into a scandal because of the publication of stories in Instagram, where the girl boasted a photo in a golden VIP-car of one of the trains "Ukrzaliznytsia". Subsequently, the news that spread in the media tried to remove for money.

Hrynkevych's wife Svitlana is a professor at the Lviv Polytechnic National University, where she holds the position of deputy head of the marketing and logistics department for scientific work. On January 8, she wrote an application for leave at her own expense "due to family circumstances".

Hrynkevych is the founder of five companies: "Lviv Plant of Prefabricated Structures-1", "Rent Estate", "Vernisazh - 2000", "Yuaforlife" and "Renaissance Style".
