Go_A.

Go_A (also Go-A) is a Ukrainian music band, a participant of Eurovision 2020 from Ukraine.

The band Go_A has four members:

• Katerina Pavlenok: vocalist;

• Igor Didenchuk: singer;

• Ivan Grigoryak: guitarist;

• Taras Shevchenko: multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, sampler, percussion).

History of Go_A band

The band was founded by multi-instrumentalist Taras Shevchenko in 2011. He wanted to create a band which would unite folk motifs and electro-folk in their songs. A year later, in 2012, the first Go_A song, called "Koliada", appeared in social networks. At the same time it should be noted that the band changed its line-up fourteen times during its existence.

Go_A's debut album, titled "Go to the Sound" (#idina sound) was released in the fall of 2016. In the same year the band won "The Best Track in Ukraine" contest, and thanks to their song "Vesnyanka" the band got the award "Discovery of the Year Kiss FM".

Go_A performed abroad - in Israel, Belarus and Poland, played at popular festivals - "Gogolfest", "White Nights", "Jazz Koktebel".

Go_A at Eurovision 2020

On January 20, 2020, it was reported that Go_A would participate in the National Selection for Eurovision 2020.

The band successfully reached the first semifinal on February 8 and made it to the final of the national selection. On February 20, having performed in the final of the national selection, Go_A took first place - they received the highest score from the judges and the audience. Accordingly, Go_A will perform at Eurovision 2020, in the first semifinal on May 12, 2020, in the Netherlands, with the song "Nightingale."

Go_A scandal.

Shortly after Go_A won the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision 2020, they were accused of "buckling to Russia." The scandal erupted because of a post by the leader of the band "Antitila" Taras Topoli, who said that the song with which Go_A will perform at Eurovision is allegedly "political".
