Komarovsky on weekend quarantine

Komarovsky criticized the authorities for the weekend quarantine imposed in November 2020 because of COVID-19. In particular, he called the closure of hardware stores unreasonable, noting that people who did not get there on weekends would go there on weekdays, but there would be more customers than usual.

He was also surprised by the decision to close the food establishments on weekends. According to him, it would leave people without an income. He noted that it would be much more efficient to ensure proper ventilation in cafes and restaurants, and compliance with sanitary norms.

Komarovskii noted that many Ukrainians cheat and only pretend that their institutions are closed, while visitors there quietly let in by phone.

"That is, the weekend quarantine is just a unique way to discredit the very concept of the state. The whole country, individual mayors, a bunch of people - to demonstrate complete nihilism, disrespect for state institutions," he said.

At the same time, he noted that "any measures that are aimed at the fact that people meet each other less often and less will work in terms of reducing the incidence of disease. But, according to Komarovsky, the authorities should have clearly explained to the population the essence and importance of quarantine, as they have done in developed countries.
