Short biography
Domenico Dolce was born on August 13th in Palermo, Italy. He worked as an apprentice for a tailor and joined his father's business.
1963 Stefano Gabbana was born November 14 in Milan, Italy where he later studied graphic arts and worked as a graphic artist.
1982 Domenico and Stefano start working together and open a studio.
1986 Presenting their first collection at the Real Woman show.
1987-95 They open a showroom in Milan, then two more in Milan and New York.
1989 Presenting their first collection of bathing suits and lingerie.
1990 Launch of a collection for men.
1990-94. In addition to conducting their own business, working as consultants for Complice.
1993 Create a collection for Madonna, whom they both adore.
1994 opening of a store in Milan. They present the D&G brand and a second line for the youngsters. Jeans, accessories and eyewear were added to the line.
1996 They create the legendary Animal Prints collection.

Dolce & Gabbana is known in many ways for making stars look like celebrities - Isabella Rossellini, Madonna, Demi Moore and Nicole Kidman wear their clothes.
Domenico Dolce and Stafano Gabbana met while working as assistants in an atelier in Milan. They shared a love of the baroque and together they achieved success in 1985 when they took part in a show organized by Milano Collezioni. In 1986 they presented their first women's collection; in 1990, a men's clothing line and a line of signature perfumes. Later they opened stores in Italy, Japan and Hong Kong.
The designers confess that they often take inspiration from old Italian cinema. When we create clothes, it's like a movie," says Domenico Dolce, "We think up a plot and create clothes to fit it. The couple does not aim to shape fashion; they believe that the main thing, in their opinion, is to create high-quality good clothes.
