Putin to give 'additional impetus' to relations with Ukraine
Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov announced this in Kyiv on Monday during a live broadcast of the inauguration of the new Russian president, Vladimir Putin, an UKRINFORM correspondent said.
"We believe that the election of Putin and his accession to the presidency, of course, will give an additional impetus to the development of our bilateral relations," Zurabov said.
He also said that Ukraine was and remains the closest strategic partner for Russia. According to Zurabov, it can be confirmed, in particular, by the 15th anniversary of the signing of a friendship treaty, which falls on the year 2012.
