Chernivtsi University can become UNESCO's fifth Ukrainian monument

At the end of July, in Paris, a dream of Chernivtsi residents may come true about including the best monument of the region into UNESCO world heritage list. At least, this issue has been included into the agenda.

As Head of the Chernivtsi City Council Department for preservation of cultural heritage Olena Pushkova said, all works on the main building of the Chernivtsi Yuriy Fedkovych National State University were carried out over several years.

The Chernivtsi University is one of the oldest Ukrainian higher educational establishments. It was founded in 1875 on the basis of the ecclesiastical seminary.

There are about 15 objects in Ukraine waiting to be included into UNESCO list.
