"Ukraine's government, Ukraine's sports community and the whole people have made serious efforts to prepare for and host with dignity one of the largest international sporting competitions - the European football championship," the head of government said.
He noted that preparations had been carried out under very difficult conditions of "severe financial crisis." Ukrainian construction workers did not stop working even in extremely harsh weather conditions, he said.
"Despite all of the obstacles, the work is almost completed. We wanted to give our people a holiday and present Ukraine to our guests with dignity... I again invite everybody to attend the championship, which, I hope, will be held at a very good sporting level," Azarov said.
Therefore, the prime minister said that it would be wrong to throw a shadow over the political championship, depriving millions of fans of such a festival. He also noted that the sports community in Ukraine and abroad was against the politicization of sports competitions.
